Annemieke Ruigrok was born on 17 March 1959 in Pijnacker, the Netherlands. Her spouse is Edward Peet.

She presented her credentials to the President of the Republic of Lithuania on 8 September 2005.

Annemieke Ruigrok joined the Foreign Service of the Netherlands in 1986 and worked successively in the Embassy in Jakarta, the Arms Control Section of the MFA in The Hague, the Embassies in Moscow and Washington and as Deputy Director Consular Department and Head Social Consular Affairs Division in the MFA in the Hague.

She studied History, International Law and Russian at the University of Utrecht (1977-1986)
