Since the reestablishment of diplomatic relations on 28 August 1991, the bilateral ties between our two countries have developed significantly in very many fields, such as trade and economy, culture, education, etc. The Netherlands and Lithuania also cooperate closely politically, in the framework of the European Union, and on defense matters, within NATO.

2008 will be an important year in the history of the relations between The Netherlands and Lithuania. Her Majesty Queen Beatrix intends to pay a State Visit to Lithuania from 24 until 26 June at the invitation of President Adamkus. All the members of the Embassy staff and myself are greatly honoured that we will be able to assist in this visit.
